Board of Directors

The volunteer board of Aktion West-Ost in BDKJ (political board) is elected every two years and consists of six members. Two members are simultaneously on Aktion West-Ost e.V. board, so that a close cooperation can be guaranteed. The volunteer e.V. board is also elected every two years and has three members. The boards of the assosiation and e.V. meet and discuss their issues and topics together.

Twice a year, the Bundesausshutzsitzung (BAS) takes place, during which the board members meet with the office and representatives of the member organizations. They shape the Aktion West-Ost work together, evaluate the past projects and build up the networking and cooperation. 

The Board

  • Cooperates with the office and gives feedback on ist work
  • Manages BAS twice a  year 
  • Ensures that the projects are initiated 
  • Being a part of the volunteer project team, participates in planning and implementation of the organization’s various exchange projects and trainings 
  • Supports the team in their work, for example, when applying for grants, representing the organizations, or when it comes to public relations

The e. V. board works specifially on 

  • Staff (employment contracts…)
  • Financing (accounting, subsidies…)
  • Organization issues (rules, insurance…)

Team at the Office

Aktion West-Ost in BDKJ, Working Group on European Peace Issues and Aktion West-Ost e.V. is located in the Youth House Düsseldorf (Jugendhaus Düsseldorf), the Federal Centre for Catholic Youth Work. It consists of two full-time employees who share their position and are supported by a volunteer from the European Voluntary Service (EVS).

The office:

  • implements the decisions of the Federal Committee Meeting (BAS) and the Executive Board
  • Organizes various youth projects and trainings at both national and international levels every year with the support of volunteer project teams
  • takes over the support of volunteers and the application for funding
  • is responsible for communicating with cooperation partners in Germany and abroad
  • is responsible for the distribution of grant funds from the Kinder und Jugendplan des Bundes to Aktion West-Ost member youth associations
  • advises and supports member youth associations on grants and organizational issues related to the planning of the projects
  • is responsible for the EVS program (supervising the voluntaries in the European Voluntary Service and applying for funding)

We are an accredited hosting and sending organisation for the European Solidarity Corps (formerly: European Voluntary Service).
